Behind us is the ninth edition of the Open Source Day. Let us thank all the participants for their attendance, including those who accompanied us in the conference center, as well as those who watched the live broadcast on the Internet.
Once again we have seen how strong the Open Source community is. The turnout exceeded our wildest expectations - over 800 participants and nearly 3,000 on-line viewers attended our event. This gives us the title of the biggest European conference devoted to open technologies.
During the event, our guests had the opportunity to listen to many interesting presentations. Experts from leading IT companies spoke about the vision of the future opportunities posed by open technology and the projects and opportunities for business. Open Source Day 2016 was supported by IBM company, which for the second year in a row was the main Partner of the conference, as well as Red Hat, SUSE, EnterpriseDB, Docker, Microsoft, Puppet, Zabbix. Comp, Intalio, Fujitsu, Zextras, IT EMCA.
During the keynote lecture, our honorary guest, Mr. Peter Woźny- The Minister of Digitisation - spoke about the strategic activities of the Ministry. Equally interesting speech was presented by our general Partner - IBM company - during which Mr. Maciej Gruczyński presented a vision of the synergies of the world of Open Source and also corporations.
Our special guests were also representatives of the business world. Mr Tomasz Fryc from Alior Bank presented a case study and spoke about his own experiences of the usage of open solutions in creating a modern banking platform. A very interesting lecture also delivered by Mr. Tomasz Matuła from Orange Polska, who - on the other hand - spoke about what the massive use of Open Source solutions in a telecommunications company looks like.
The lectures chosen through the Call for Papers enjoyed broad interest, our participants could learn there what the migration to Open Source software looks like in the Italian Ministry of Defence, and why Open Source software is an avalanche, which can not be stopped and what it has to do with the pl ..ID.. project.
In addition to the lectures, the conference also held technical workshops conducted by Linux Polska and Microsoft. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange their experience, knowledge, to establish new business relationships and take part in countless conversations and discussions both during the conference itself, and in a less formal atmosphere during the evening party.
We hope that this edition of Open Source Day will bring many benefits to all our partners, customers, guests and enthusiasts of Open Source solutions, in terms of knowledge, inspiration and future projects.
Thank you very much for your participation, already today please feel invited to the next jubilee edition of Open Source Day 2017!
